Even with the passage of the new farm bill, the potential for reasonable increases in farm income seems not yet to appear on the economic horizon.

As someone who has been engaged in many farm policy debates, I find the current conversations regarding the need for incremental farm bill changes to be disheartening.

The Trump Administration should be commended for initiating “The Proposed 2017 Reorganization of the Department of Agriculture to establish an Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs," but understand how Rural Development is needed to make it work for taxpayers.
