The State Water Resources Control Board adopted a resolution on water conservation for urban areas after receiving consistent pushback on the rule for placing severe costs on local water providers, estimated at $4.7 billion through 2050.

The California State Auditor has issued a scathing report criticizing the California Department of Pesticide Regulation for inefficient processes responsible for growing delays in registering new products.

The Bureau of Reclamation says it has completed Phase 1 of the Friant-Kern Canal Middle Reach Capacity Correction Project with a ribbon-cutting celebration of 10 miles of new, concrete-lined canal. The new lining replaced an original section that had sunk from persistent groundwater removal since its construction in 1951.

The $10 billion measure would allocate nearly $4 billion to various water issues and $300 million to programs promoting sustainability practices and helping farmers and ranchers to build climate resilience.
