There is big news today on the farm bill front. The House and Senate Agriculture committees are making dueling moves today in the partisan standoff over a new bill.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says he’ll make sure the Treasury Department understands the importance of stepped-up basis to farm groups. Vilsack was pressed about that issue during an appearance Wednesday before the House Ag Appropriations Subcommittee.
USDA is asking for nominations for the Advisory Committee on Beginning Farmers and Ranchers and the Advisory Committee on Minority Farmers and Ranchers.
