Colombia is once again accepting U.S. exports of poultry and egg products after shutting off access to their market last summer due to concerns about Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.
Cal-Maine Foods recently announced a deal with Tyson to purchase a shuttered Dexter, Missouri, packing plant and “initially convert the broiler processing plant to an egg grading facility.”
In an effort to increase egg supplies ahead of the Easter holiday, the National Chicken Council has filed a petition with the Food and Drug Administration seeking regulatory changes to allow “surplus” hatchery eggs be permitted in the food supply.
