Congressional Republicans are likely to move quickly to carry out President-elect Donald Trump’s top legislative priority by extending expiring tax provisions and enacting new tax cuts, and some farm bill measures could go along for the ride.
A bipartisan infrastructure deal is alive and well after the Senate voted 67-32 Wednesday evening to begin debate on the measure. An agreement was reached earlier in the day on the package’s final details.
Senate Republicans look to move their tax bill as soon as this week over broad opposition from Democrats, who argue that the GOP's top legislative priority would be a giveaway to corporations and the rich.
