Commodity groups are mounting a push to convince the Commerce department to limit the potential tariffs it could place on imports of herbicide ingredient 2,4-D from China and India as a result of an investigation into allegations that imports from these countries are being sold in the U.S. at “less than fair value.”
Corn growers and formulators of 2,4-D urged the International Trade Commission Thursday to deny a request from Corteva Agriscience for antidumping duties on low-priced Chinese and Indian imports, claiming the company has been using its position as the sole U.S. producer of 2,4-D acid to gain market share for its Enlist growing system.
The International Trade Commission has begun an investigation into whether low-priced imports of 2,4-D are causing “material injury,” in response to a petition filed by domestic manufacturer Corteva Agriscience.
