The Agriculture Department's National Agricultural Statistics Service will continue to accept census questionnaires through the spring, despite the deadline for responses thaving passed.
USDA is going to use the upcoming Census of Agriculture to find out where farmers are using precision agriculture methods and to identify parts of the country where there are gaps in high-speed internet access.
The first release of 2017 Census of Agriculture results will occur Feb. 21 at the USDA 2019 Outlook Forum, says Hubert Hamer, administrator of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, which conducts the five-year tallies.
WASHINGTON, April 17, 2017 – “Make sure you are counted.” That’s the message USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service is trying to get across to America’s farmers and ranchers as NASS prepares for the 2017 Census of Agriculture. Conducted every five years, the Census aims to get a complete count of all U.S. farms and ranches and those who operate them.
