University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources has announced its 2040 Strategic Vision, which provides an outline for meeting the system’s goals over the next 15 years.
The vision lays out how UCANR can address challenges with agricultural “productivity, sustainability, profitability and equitable distribution of healthy foods.”

In addition to goals around climate change and protecting natural resources, the vision directs UCANR to inform and shape state policy to help growers and other stakeholders with regulatory compliance and to increase transparency in the regulatory process.
According to a press release, the vision comes after 15 months of feedback from UCANR staff, government officials, farmers and others. The plan is the culmination of Phase 1 of UCANR’s vision process; Phase 2 will be informed through feedback and a 45-member Strategic Framework Committee, which will produce the five-year UCANR Strategic Plan.
