A partnership involving farm equipment manufacturers will make available artificial intelligence-powered weeding technology from FarmWise, Salinas, Calif., to farmers in southwestern states RDO Equipment Co., a global equipment supplier based n North Dakota, will distribute it.
The product, called Vulcan, provides precision weeding to help farmers reduce labor costs and minimize chemical use. Taylor Farms and Barkley Farms currently use the technology.

Ted Taylor, president of agricultural operations at Taylor Farms, also of Salinas, said in a Sept. 12 press release from FarmWise that he expects Vulcan to be “a significant part of our operations going forward.”
Vulcan was ranked in the top 10 new technologies of 2023 by the World Ag Expo.
The agreement makes RDO an exclusive sales and field support partner to FarmWise, according to the release.
