Western Growers and S2G Ventures are accepting applications for the 6th annual AgSharks competition, which offers companies a chance to win investment capital for their agricultural innovations.

Startup companies are invited to pitch their projects live to an audience of crop producers for the chance to win a $250,000 minimum investment. AgSharks is looking specifically for technologies that “promote a more healthy and sustainable food and agriculture system.”

“We look forward to finding finalists who can bring real-world technology solutions to solve the issues impacting the specialty crop community,” said Western Growers President and CEO Dave Puglia.

Three finalists will get the opportunity to pitch their project to a panel of growers, shippers, processors and venture capitalists during WG's annual meeting this November in Kauai, Hawaii.

“As an investor, we bring capital to the table, and having an open dialogue with growers allows us to have a better understanding of industry needs and how we might work together to meaningfully move the needle on innovation in agriculture,” said Audre Kapacinskas, principal of S2G Ventures, which bills itself as the direct investment team of Builders Vision.

AgSharks winners will also receive mentoring from Western Growers and S2G Ventures. Applications are open now at the AgSharks website and will be accepted through July 28.
