A delegation of California Republicans is pushing the Biden administration to maintain biological opinions set up under the Trump administration to govern Delta flows to farmers.
In a letter to the Interior and Commerce departments this week, 11 congressmembers said water is a lifeline for farmers, businesses and local economies. The updated operations plan for the Central Valley Project provides “certainty and secure water for communities, families and farmers,” they write.

“The unnecessary review and potential reversal of these important biological opinions would jeopardize water supply” and “have detrimental, long-lasting effects on our local economies,” said Rep. David Valadao in a statement.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (above) added: "It’s time that Democrats end the war on water.”
