The California Farm Bureau is working with insurance associations and legislative staff to draft a bill aimed at providing basic coverage for farming infrastructure.
Dozens of Farm Bureau members in high-risk wildfire zones have been unable to get insurance through the California Fair Plan, which acts as an insurer of last resort. Those managing the program do not believe the current law allows the Fair Plan to offer such coverage.
The Farm Bureau is working on legislation with the offices of Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins, Senator Ben Hueso and Senator Mike McGuire.
