“Hunger is an issue affecting too many Californians,” according to a resolution passed this week by the state Senate. Citrus Stride Day addresses this challenge by donating to food banks 1,000 pounds of citrus for every lawmaker who participates in the one-mile walk around the capitol. During the vote, 72 senators joined the resolution as coauthors. Government representatives and staff are invited to take part in the event which is expected to raise over 300,000 pounds of fresh citrus for community food banks across the state.
The Citrus Stride will kick-off at 12:00 p.m. with brief remarks by CCM President/CEO Casey Creamer and special guest Senate Pro Tempore Toni Atkins. More details at California Citrus Mutual.
