A coalition of animal welfare groups has gathered enough signatures to place a measure on the November ballot in California that would require all egg-laying hens be cage-free by 2022.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 6, 2017 – Egg and pork producers are vowing to fight a California ballot initiative proposed by the Humane Society of the United States and other animal rights groups that would require egg-laying hens to be cage-free by 2022 and prohibit the use of gestation crates for sows.
