Lawmakers pressed energy regulators for details on shoring up the grid without fossil fuels or nuclear power. But trade groups decried soaring rates and faulty reliability in rural regions and pleaded for financing it other ways than through ratepayers.
The Legislature is pushing PG&E to pick up the pace in preventing power lines from causing more catastrophic wildfires. But agriculture and consumer groups are pressing for the state and federal administrations to cover the $30 billion price tag instead of ratepayers.
