The UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s index of global food commodity prices eased again in January, led by lower prices for grains and meat, and is down 10.4% from a year ago.
A measure of world prices for food commodities fell for the ninth consecutive month in December, driven by a sharp drop in the cost of vegetable oils and softer prices for meat and grains.
FAO's measure of global food commodity prices fell slightly in April, driven by an easing of corn and vegetable oil prices, after jumping 13% the month before following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Global food prices hit an all-time high in February, led by sharp increases in vegetable oil and dairy prices as well higher costs for grains, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.
