USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has extended a public comment period to allow for feedback on the January proposal requiring electronic identification for the interstate movement of certain cattle and bison.
Ranchers can continue to use currently approved identification tags for cattle while USDA examines whether to require Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, the department said Tuesday.
