USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service is still planning to resume publishing its weekly export sales report on Sept. 15, but that report will be much larger than normal because it will contain four weeks of data that haven’t been published because of problems installing a new reporting system, according to USDA officials.
U.S. soybean exports picked up pace significantly in the first week of October, offering evidence that U.S. shipping of the 2021-22 marketing year crop is recovering from delays caused by damages to barges, elevators, ports and other infrastructure on the Mississippi River by Hurricane Ida more than a month ago.
The USDA Tuesday reported a daily export sale of 1.36 million metric tons of U.S. corn for delivery to China in the 2020-21 marketing year, a strong sign that the country’s demand remains robust as it rebuilds its swine herd.
The new year got off to a big start for U.S. soybean trade, with sales and shipments to China totaling nearly 2 million metric tons for just the first week in January, according to the latest trade data.
August is shaping up to be a good month for U.S. sorghum sales to China. The latest data out of USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service shows Chinese companies contracted to buy 696,300 metric tons of the grain in the first week of the month.
