The Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Center for Risk Management Education and Research (CRMER) at Kansas State University will team up again to host AgCon2024. AgCon2024 will again bring together government officials, agribusiness, and academia to discuss a range of topics that are important to the agricultural community who depend upon the futures markets.

Open Mic: Corey Rosenbusch, President and CEO The Fertilizer Institute

This week’s Open Mic guest is Corey Rosenbusch, President and CEO of The Fertilizer Institute. Fresh off a meeting of the International Fertilizer Association, Rosenbusch offers troubling news on how Houthi rebels are impacting fertilizer shipping channels and how Vladimir Putin is conspiring to control fertilizer supplies and ultimately global food security. At home, Rosenbusch says TFI members share the call of commodity organizations to Washington to deliver a new farm bill. Rosenbusch hopes the Treasury Department can deliver clear nutrient guidance in the new IRA 45Z rules.

David Rouzer. He joins Newsmakers to discuss how the Biden administration’s “waters of the U.S.” rule could be vulnerable due to the decision, as well as priorities Republicans want to convey to voters at the Republican National Convention next week.

Then, Ray Starling of the North Carolina Chamber and Barbara Patterson from Torrey Advisory Group discuss issues important to rural voters and the potential impact of the GOP platform’s proposed tariffs on farm country.
