I join the agricultural community across the country excited about the nomination of Gov. Sonny Perdue for USDA Secretary in the Trump Administration. He has a very good reputation within the ag industry and he has a strong background in agriculture that will serve him well in this important role.

I come from a state where rural communities serve as the bedrock to our culture and economy. A place where the importance of local leaders – school board members, church deacons and hospital board trustees – is recognized and encouraged.

The House of Representatives` Freedom Caucus lists the USDA National Organic Program as one that should be a high priority for reform under President-elect Donald Trump. We agree.
