California Department of Pesticide Regulation Director Julie Henderson plans to step down on Jan. 20, the day President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office.
While the Newsom administration is backing a set of voluntary agreements over freshwater flows, the U.S. EPA is siding with environmentalists and wants to commit 40-60% of the water to fish.
Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed Rachel Zwillinger as assistant general counsel for enforcement at CalEPA. Zwillinger previously served as a water policy adviser at Defenders of Wildlife and has also worked for the Natural Resources Defense Council. The CalEPA position does not require Senate confirmation.
