An Assembly committee has approved a bill to add more regulatory review for new groundwater wells, along with two others on adjudications.

Lawmaker have filed the most in more than a decade, raising the potential for the Legislature to deliver new challenges for farmers already dealing with water shortages, high taxes and exorbitant labor costs.

The advocacy group has fended off two bills and an executive order from Gov. Gavin Newsom and is expecting more of the same for 2023.
