IONE, Calif., Oct. 4, 2017 - EnSync Energy Systems has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with the government of California for a 500 kilowatt (KW) solar installation at the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection training facility in Ione. The developer plans to build a solar canopy over the parking lot of the academy’s new dormitory. The project is a result of Gov. Jerry Brown’s 2012 executive order mandating green building standards and advancements in energy technologies. "This is an important milestone for EnSync Energy,” said CEO Brad Hansen. “We are delighted to work with CAL FIRE on our first large project in the state and support CAL FIRE's mission to protect the public safety of Californians. EnSync Energy evaluated the anticipated energy needs on the campus and said it found that a photovoltaic installation consolidated onto a canopy – rather than decentralized installations on individual building roofs – would both reduce installation costs and maximize solar energy output.
