WASHINGTON, August 9, 2017 - The Energy Department (DOE) needs solar stakeholders input for their SunShot Initiative as the department looks forward to a 2030 goal of $0.03 per kilowatt hour. Meeting that goal will require significant improvements to photovoltaic (PV) technology for which DOE seeks direction regarding pertinent research. They want to increase cell efficiency, improve long-term system reliability and durability, maximize annual energy production, and reduce manufacturing costs. Areas for advancement include: technological research priorities, characterization and modeling techniques, module packaging and reliability, and portfolio evaluation. DOE will accept information through 5:00pm (ET) Monday, August 14. Responses must be submitted to PVRD@ee.doe.gov as Microsoft Word attachments. Research funding is available via Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy.
