GERMANY, July 26, 2017 - Four North Sea grid connections have gone on-line for TenneT, a German-Dutch transmission grid operator. Siemens, which built the connections, successfully completed test runs before handing the system over. The grid connections are now in commercial operation. A fifth grid connection is anticipated to go live in 2019. Siemens has been awarded a contract for a sixth grid connection for TenneT, and that grid is slated to begin operation in 2023. These six projects are expected to provide wind-generated power to 5 million households.
