WASHINGTON, Feb. 2 – As expected, the Senate voted against an amendment offered by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to repeal the Obama administration's healthcare law. With 47 Republicans voting for, versus 50 Democrats and one Independent voting against, Wednesday evening's vote is unlikely to end the Republicans' efforts to overturn the bill they call “job-killing.” In response, Democrats charge that repeal would add billions to the federal deficit.
