Farm and biofuel groups are throwing their support behind an effort to overturn waivers the Biden administration issued to California for advanced clean car and truck rules.
The American Farm Bureau Federation, National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, American Soybean Association, National Corn Growers Association, Growth Energy and Renewable Fuels Association are among approximately 100 groups that signed a letter to House and Senate leaders urging them to use the Congressional Review Act to kill the rules.

“While we support reducing emissions in the transportation sector, forced electrification and unachievable standards are not the only way to accomplish this. In a country as big and diverse as ours, vehicle offerings need to be diverse to meet Americans’ wide-ranging transportation needs,” the letter says.
The CRA allows Congress to eliminate rules by simple majority votes of the House and Senate, provided the president goes along. However, the Government Accountability Office earlier this month issued an opinion that the Biden administration waivers aren’t subject to the CRA withdrawal process. GAO says the waivers are orders, not rules.
