Consumers who have taken popular weight-loss drugs are far more likely than others to expect the medications to have a major impact on food preferences and habits, according to a survey.
Some 43% of consumers who have had experience with GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic say they expect the drugs to significantly affect dietary preferences and food purchasing decisions. Nearly 41% expect somewhat of an impact, says the Gardner Food and Agricultural Policy Survey conducted by researchers at the University of Illinois and Purdue University.

By comparison, only 14% of consumers who haven’t taken the drugs expect them to have a significant impact on diets and buying habits. About 39% of those consumers say the drugs could somewhat impact the public.
Some 20% of those surveyed said they had taken the drugs in the past or were taking them now.
