USDA on Monday announced the 2025 enrollment periods for commodity programs used by row crop growers and dairy producers.
USDA’s Farm Service Agency will take applications for the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs from Jan. 21 to April 15. Enrollment for the Dairy Margin Coverage program will start Jan. 29 and run through March 31.
Authority for the three programs was continued through 2025 by the new one-year extension of the 2018 farm bill. The extension was included in the American Relief Act, the year-end bill passed in December to keep the government funded through March 14.
That legislation also included $21 billion in disaster assistance for agricultural losses and $10 billion in economic assistance for row crop producers. USDA hasn’t announced plans for distributing that funding.
“If you’re getting coverage through the Agriculture Risk Coverage or Price Loss Coverage programs, avoid the rush and contact your local FSA office for an appointment. Even if you are not changing your program election for 2025, you still need to sign a contract to enroll,” FSA Administrator Zach Ducheneaux said in a statement.
He said the dairy program was a “relatively inexpensive investment in a true sense of security and peace of mind.”
