Christy Seyfert, executive director of government affairs for the American Soybean Association, has been selected as the new president and CEO of the Farm Credit Council, succeeding Todd Van Hoose, who is retiring.

Seyfert will take over at the council, which represents members of the Farm Credit System, in mid-January, the council said Wednesday. Van Hoose has led the council since 2016.

“Christy is strongly committed to the success of America’s rural communities and the agriculture industry,” Farm Credit Council Board Chair Michael T. Stone said in a press release. “We are excited for her to lead Farm Credit’s efforts in Washington.”

Board Vice Chair Stan Clausen said Seyfert has a “deep knowledge of agriculture and vast experience in the Washington policy environment.”

Seyfert has experience in the financial services industry, having represented Zurich North America and Wells Fargo earlier in her career. She also has served as an aide to the both Senate and House Agriculture committees.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead Farm Credit’s efforts in Washington and work with dedicated professionals across the United States,” said Seyfert. “Farm Credit’s mission to support rural communities and agriculture remains critical to our nation’s success, and I look forward to building on Farm Credit Council’s strong advocacy efforts in Washington that Todd Van Hoose has so effectively led.”

Seyfert earned a degree in agriculture and food science at the University of Georgia. She is married to Mike Seyfert, who is president and CEO of the National Grain and Feed Association

The Farm Credit Council announced in July that Van Hoose would be retiring in early 2025 and that the organization would launch a search for his replacement.
