USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service is soliciting comments through Dec.23 on its Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation conservation practice standards. 

In addition to comments on overall NRCS technical services, producers are invited to review the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Conservation Stewardship Program, Agricultural Conservation Easement Program and Regional Conservation Partnership Program.

Information from comments will be used to quickly identify and prioritize standards for implementation and funding available 2026.

Several standards are entering a five-year review period, including Brush Management; Herbaceous Weed Treatment;  Soil Carbon Amendment;  Prescribed Burning;  Roofs and Covers;  Fuel Breaks;  Wildlife Habitat Planting;  Drainage Water Management; Nutrient Management and Feed Management.

The NRCS recently updated its list of Climate-Smart Agriculture and Forestry Mitigation Activities to include 14 new practices.
