FSA’s software previously allowed farmers to report plantings down to .0001 acre, roughly a four-foot area, according to an FSA release. The updated software will allow reporting of areas as small as .000001 acre. That’s the size of a square that is 2.5 inch by 2.5 inch.

“Filing an acreage report is an important requirement to receive many USDA program benefits, and our small-scale agricultural producers, including urban and innovative producers, will notice a simpler acreage reporting process that better reflects the scope of their unique operations,” said FSA Administrator Zach Ducheneaux.
