USDA is making $500 million available in fiscal 2025, which begins Oct. 1, for the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program.

ACEP easements are designed to protect wetlands and to keep cropland and grasslands in agricultural production.

“Healthy wetlands, grasslands, and farmlands sequester carbon and provide many other natural resource benefits," USDA says.

The funding comes from the Inflation Reduction Act, which provides $1.4 billion for ACEP over five years. Funding priorities are unchanged from fiscal 2024, the department says.
