The National FFA has reached the milestone of one million members for the first time, announcing Monday that it has 1,027,273 members this year.

FFA reported an 8.6% increase in total membership from last year, with Utah, Florida, and Alaska having th fastest growth rates.

The organization now has 9,235 chapters, with the highest membership in Texas at 177,041, followed by California (104,450), Georgia (81,963), Florida (60,817) and North Carolina (48,241).

The 97th National FFA Convention and Expo will be held in October in Indianapolis. 

Since 1928, the national organization has expanded its reach to more students, offering career pathways for middle school programs and developing chapters in 23 of the 25 largest cities in the U.S.

National FFA CEO Scott Stump said members are pursuing “one of the more than 350 careers in agriculture.”

“It’s exciting to watch this generation continue to find their place in agricultural education and FFA,” said Stump.

After high school graduation, 61% of FFA members pursue a four-year degree, 15% attend a two-year college, 6% enroll in a trade school program, and 5% enter the workforce.

There are 760,152 alumni members across all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The organization reports that 84% of their alumni continue to work in the agriculture industry after graduation.
