The California Department of Pesticide Regulation announced that applications for the 2025 Research and Alliance Grants Programs will be accepted at the end of July. Interested parties are encouraged to demonstrate how their project will develop sustainable pest management (SPM) and integrated pest management (IPM) practices.

Research Grants are identified as “projects that advance IPM knowledge in agricultural, urban, or wildland settings.” Alliance Grants are intended for human health and environmental risk reduction through innovative IPM projects. Grant recipients and amounts awarded since 2007 are available at DPR’s website.

DPR outlines priority areas for the grants include IPM for underserved communities; decreasing the use of pesticides under regulatory scrutiny; creation of urban IPM and SPM tools; SPM tools for ag settings near school facilities; and meeting two or more of the sustainability pillars outlined by the SPM roadmap.

Pending budget approval, the program plans to offer $1.9 million in grants, up from $1.1 million during the 2024 grant cycle. Applications for Research Grants close Sept. 19 and Alliance Grant applications close Nov. 21.
