The Labor Department is extending overtime pay requirements to more workers. 

A rule finalized by the Labor Department raises the salary thresholds below which salaried employees are eligible for overtime. The rule also provides for automatic updates in the thresholds every three years.

Starting July 1, the threshold will increase to $844 a week, or $43,888 a year. The level increases again to $1,128 per week, or $55,656 a year, on July 1, 2025. 

Employees who work in an executive, administrative, or professional capacity are exempt from the requirements, as are farmworkers.
