The lapse in funding during the five-week government shutdown has delayed the planned release next month of the 2017 Census of Agriculture.
The National Agricultural Statistics Service said Wednesday that, assuming funding remains available for fiscal year 2019, it plans to release the 2017 Census of Agriculture at noon on April 11. The report was originally set to be unveiled at USDA’s annual Agricultural Outlook Forum Feb. 21.
Meanwhile, NASS’ Agricultural Statistics Board has begun rescheduling the release of reports affected by the shutdown, during which NASS was not able to collect data.
First out of the gate will be Agricultural Prices, originally scheduled for release on Dec. 27, which will be released Thursday, Jan. 31, at 3 p.m. ET.
The next day, Friday, Feb. 1, NASS will release two reports: a QuickStats version of Poultry Slaughter (originally scheduled for release on Dec. 26), and Peanut Stocks and Processing (originally scheduled for Dec. 28). Both will be released at 3 p.m.
