The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council is seeking five regional Hot Dog Ambassadors to help lead celebrations around the country in July, which is National Hot Dog Month. July earned the honor because on a single day -- Independence Day, the 4th of July -Americans consume a whopping 150 million hot dogs. NHDSC President Eric Mittenthal looks forward to “fierce” competition for the new ambassador positions, as the judges seek “those with a strong background in preparing, eating, enjoying, debating and celebrating hot dogs.” Along with the status, each ambassador will receive deals at NHDSC partner restaurants, gift cards for hot dogs, T-shirts and other prizes. Applicants must submit their hot dog resumes by July 11 to be considered. The five regional ambassadors will be named on National Hot Dog Day, July 18. Runner-ups will be named Wiener Warriors. Contest details, as well as hot dog history and hot dog etiquette, can be found at www.hot-dog.org.
