USDA has awarded a $9 million Rural Development loan for an electrical power expansion by Midwest Electric in northwest Ohio. The funds will go toward the installation and repair of over 70 miles of power lines throughout Auglaize, Putnam, Allen, Darke, Shelby, Van Wert and Mercer counties, as well as other system-wide improvements. The funding is part of the USDA’s Electric Infrastructure Loan and Loan Guarantee Program. “Rural Ohioans face unique challenges in getting the power they need to keep the lights on,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio. “This investment provides Midwest Electric with the resources it needs to ensure northwest Ohio has access to the power needed to attract and create jobs and provide a secure power source for its customers.”
