WASHINGTON, Oct. 11, 2017 - Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt missed the deadline to implement clean air protection against smog pollution. The Clean Air Act mandated a deadline of Oct. 2 for initial designations of areas meeting or violating the 70 part per billion smog pollution standard. Matthew Gravatt, Sierra Club’s associate director of federal and administrative advocacy, criticized Pruitt in a statement. “We will use every legal avenue available to hold him accountable for this blatant disregard for the Clean Air Act and the EPA’s responsibility to keep the public safe from polluters,” said Gravatt.
