Plant to convert trash to fuel outside of NYC.

NEW YORK, July 19, 2017 - New Planet Energy (NPE) plans to build a biofuels plant in Stony Point, New York. Lohud, which is part of the USA Today network, reports that the location, about 40 miles north of New York City, is currently a Superfund site – meaning the Environmental Protection Agency has deemed it as contaminated by hazardous waste. Projections show the facility plans to process 4,500 tons of garbage daily and produce 20 million gallons of biodiesel yearly. The company purchased the location for $700 million and expects to be operational by the second quarter 2019, employing around 150 employees. NPE’s plan reportedly calls for a 250,000-square-foot processing facility on the 40-acre plot and will employ cutting-edge technology for refuse sorting and separating.
