Agri-Pulse Ag Day event celebrates innovation and a legacy

WASHINGTON, March 18, 2015 – Leaders from agriculture, education and politics helped Agri-Pulse kick off Ag Day in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, March 17 with a panel discussion on innovation in agriculture and a video tribute celebrating an ag and trade leader.

At the annual event celebrating National Agriculture Day and America’s farming tradition, Agri-Pulse Editor Sara Wyant hosted a panel discussion on “Farm to Fork Politics: Unleashing Innovation in Agriculture.”

Panel members included:

·         The Honorable Rodney Davis, R-IL, Chair of the House Committee on Agriculture’s Biotechnology, Horticulture and Research Subcommittee

·         Bill Horan, Farmer and Chairman, Truth About Trade & Technology

·         Paul Sauder, CEO, Sauder’s Eggs

·         David Fischhoff, Chief Scientist, Climate Corporation

·         Ronnie Green, Vice President, Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Nebraska

Following the panel discussion, guests at the event were treated to a special video tribute for Ambassador and former Agriculture Secretary Clayton Yeutter. The honoree received a standing ovation.

Yeutter, a renowned trade expert and University of Nebraska alumnus, has made a $2.5 million leadership gift commitment to establish an international trade and finance institute at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.

“We were pleased to have so many of our readers and friends in agriculture join us to learn about exciting innovations in agriculture,” said Agri-Pulse Editor Sara Wyant. “The event was an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to the terrific agricultural and rural people who support and appreciate the work we do. It was especially exciting this year to also honor our dear friend, Clayton Yeutter.”

National Agriculture Day, March 18, is part of a series of events for National Ag Week, March 15-21, 2015. The events are planned to encourage Americans to learn more about how their food, fiber and fuel products are produced, value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy and appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.
