WASHINGTON, Feb. 4, 2019 – Agri-Pulse Communications is expanding with the opening of a news bureau in Sacramento, Calif., led by Brad Hooker.
“We have long known that legislation, regulations and legal issues decided in California often have national implications for the rest of American agriculture,” noted Sara Wyant, President and CEO of Agri-Pulse. “This expansion enables us to have someone with first-hand knowledge of agricultural issues in the state. Coupled with the extensive federal coverage that we deliver to readers every day, we believe this will be a winning combination.”
Brad Hooker will join the company to launch the news bureau on Feb. 4. He is a talented communicator and photographer with extensive experience covering California agricultural and food issues.
Hooker previously served as the Communications Director for the World Food Center at the University of California, Davis and prior to that, as a senior writer for the university’s Department of Plant Sciences. He’s developed multimedia projects on topics including drought and climate change. He also worked for the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington, D.C., producing a blog that sifted through hard data on the money behind politics.
Most recently, Hooker worked as the Science Writer and Content Editor for the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. He earned his B.A. Degree in English/Broadcast Journalism from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla., and his M.S. in Magazine Journalism from the University of Oregon.
“We are very pleased to have someone with Brad’s talent and expertise help us with our coast-to-coast expansion,” Wyant said. “As we celebrate our 15th year in business, we look forward to building upon our brand promise of balanced reporting and trusted insights for an even wider audience.”
