EPA invests over $1 billion in California ports

October 30, 2024

The Environmental Protection Agency is awarding $1 billion to seven California ports to help transition their operations to accelerate their transition to zero-emissions.

The Port of Los Angeles is receiving the largest national award of $411 million to be used for air pollution reduction in and around the port, zero emission cargo handling equipment and improved EV charging infrastructure.

The Port of Oakland is getting $322 million for decarbonization through zero emission drayage trucks and cargo handling equipment.

According to Gov. Gavin Newsom's office, California moves roughly 40% of the nation’s containerized imports and 30% of total exports.
